Border Solidarity Toolkit

As Catholics and people of faith, God calls us to live in solidarity with others, especially with those who live in poverty or are marginalized. Solidarity is the faithful and persistent determination to act as each other’s keepers (Gen. 4: 9). 

Now more than ever, stigmatizing rhetoric and harmful policies are marginalizing our neighbors living in border communities and those arriving at our borders seeking safety and security. Harsh enforcement practices, invasive infrastructure, the criminalization of migrants, and environmental destruction are on the rise. 

This toolkit is designed to help you and your faith community live out the call to be in solidarity with border communities. It includes a number of activities for prayer, education, and action.

As people of faith, God calls us to live in solidarity with others, especially with those who live in poverty or are marginalized. At the border, Pope Francis reminds us that we have "an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ, who identified himself with the foreigner who has been accepted or rejected in every age."

As a Columban priest once remarked about his own experience accompanying marginalized communities in the Philippines: without solidarity there can be no love, and therefore, no peace and justice.
